The water heater types we deal with
If you’ve been using water heaters for a long time, you may have noticed that there are different types of water heaters, each with its own advantages. If not, don’t worry; it is our job as repairmen to find out which type you have before we fix it. And when it comes down to it, our highly experienced repairmen can install and fix any type of water heater.
To give you context though, here are the two main water heater types and what you should know about them:
Conventional storage-tank heater
This heater is conventional indeed, and therefore the most popular. It comes with an insulated water tank that stores the water to be heated. This tank features two valves; a temperature one and a pressure one. While the former opens up to release heat once a temperature of 120 degrees Fahrenheit, the latter only opens up at 150 psi.
Ultimately, the greatest appeal of conventional water heaters is that they are affordable and easy to install. You really have to wash them regularly though. Otherwise, they may experience sediment buildup. And just so you know, once you run out of hot water, it could take up to an hour for a new tank of water to be heated.
Tankless water heaters
As their name suggests, these heaters have no water tanks. They simply have super-heated coils that heat water on demand. As such, they are very popular among those with big families. While these heaters are more expensive than their conventional counterparts, they are more than worth it. They offer a variety of size options, save on energy, and are easy to maintain. You just have to wash them around once a year and you’re good to go.
